Wild Bunch Action Shooting is based loosely on the Sam Peckinpah movie, the Wild Bunch. It is a sanctioned club and a part of the Single Action Shooting Society. Unlike the movie, we do not shoot at a battalion of Mexican soldiers, instead we shoot at a variety of targets; stationary, reactive, poppers, racks, all at varying distances, and with different scenarios.
We use either a Model 12 or Model 97 pump shotguns, even double barrels, and lever action shotguns. Lever action rifles are used, in pistol calibers, typically in 38 Spcl or 45 Colt. The handgun is a full sized 1911 in 45 ACP. So this is more of an old fashioned 3 gun competition, with some of the best and most helpful people you will find in any competition sport.
We dress in Cowboy style clothing appropriate to the time frame involved, with some of our shooters dressing in Military attire of the same era. This is a unisex organization, and we even have a World Champion woman shooter that shoots with us regularly.
