Murieta Posse is a SASS-affiliated Cowboy Action Shooting club. Matches are scored using total time rather than rank points and typically consist of six stages. Shooters should bring at least 100 rifle rounds, 100 pistol rounds, and 50 shotgun rounds to accommodate potential re-shoots. Appropriate eye and ear protection is required for all participants and spectators.
The regular match fee is $17. Members of Diamond Dick’s Cowboy Town receive a $5 discount. Junior shooters (under 18 years of age) shoot free.
New shooters should be familiar with SASS rules, firearm safety practices, and the safe operation of their firearms. If you have never participated in a Cowboy Action Shooting match, a 1–2 hour orientation is required prior to competing. As a SASS-affiliated club, Murieta Posse operates in accordance with the SASS Shooters Handbook, the SASS Range Officer Training Course (Level I and Level II), and the Folsom Shooting Club Shooting Range Rules.
